But, have you ever thought about what the city water we use is doing to our soil? We are all familiar what the cities put in our tap water to kill bacteria - chlorine! When we use chlorinated water on our gardens it is killing a lot of the good bacteria in our soils.

If you make your own Compost Tea, you may have to fill some buckets up with water and, because chlorine is a gas, let it sit for a day or two to allow the chlorine to escape before you can use it. Some cities are also starting to put another form of chlorine, called Chloramines, into the water. This combination of chlorine and ammonia will not escape as a gas, so for Compost Tea you have to add a chlorine remover to neutralize the Chloramines. Also, when using products like BT (which is a bacteria ) to control caterpillars, chlorinated water most of the bacteria can be killed off. That may be why many people haven’t had much success using BT. The BMS water filter will also remove up to 98% of water-soluable metals like lead, mercury, copper, nickel, chromium, and other disolved metals.

It also filters out heavy metals and many pollutants that could be potentially harmful and restores a relatively neutral pH.
